Styles & Techniques

Selecting your project

Consider the transformation you want to achieve when selecting your item, you want to work with the furniture to get the best results.

Choose from various styles and techniques to either further enhance and transform your furniture.

Paint and Wax techniques  – Two tone, Blending, Lime/washed effects, Frottage, Stencilling, Ageing, Dry Brushing, Stippling, building texture  to list a few.

Decoupage, Guilding, Wallpapers, French style, Distressing, Crackle, Various finishes.

E.g. A smooth surface item lends its self more towards paint effects, decoupage/stencilling or crackle techniques.

A carved or detailed/textured surface item lends its self more  towards ageing effects, guilding, wax effects or dry brushing techniques to bring out the details.

Generally you would only use 2 or 3 techniques on one piece …we are always available to provide inspiration and direction in helping you see the possible in your piece.

Workshops are hands-on, so wear some old clothes and prepare to get a little messy! We provide aprons, gloves and have wash facilities in the workshop.

To get the most out of these workshops, we’ve tried to keep things as simple as possible. Please email us a pic of your project and a rough idea of what you would like to achieve and we can direct you to the best workshop for you.
